Snowplow driver saves dogs during blizzard
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) A Long Island snowplow driver went above and beyond his route to rescue two dogs wandering onto Sunrise Highway in Babylon on Monday.
Kenny McGowan spotted the pair and followed the dogs for nearly a mile in his truck, eventually maneuvering the vehicle to “cut them off” and steer them away from dangerous traffic.
“I was going to text my boss and be like, I’ll drive to Brooklyn if these dogs don’t stop running, I’m following them all the way,” he told 1010 WINS.
With the help of several other good Samaritans—including a woman and her daughter who provided blankets—the friendly dogs were safely corralled on a snowbank.
A microchip found on one of the pets helped a local shelter reunite the pups with their grateful family.
